The British are coming, the British are coming! I don’t know what happened across the pond, but overnight a couple of British libraries decided to start into the Facebook Pages.
As of 9:30am EST, there are 70 Library Facebook Pages. There are 36 university libraries, 30 public libraries, 2 private libraries, 1 corporate and 1 virtual. I’m really surprised at how close the numbers of the public and university libraries are. I associate Facebook with the College/Grad school crowd and MySpace with the High School/Junior High (aka public library target) age. It will be interesting to follow how the sites are utilized and the “fans” each gets.
Geographically, there 13 from outside of the United States – 6 from Canada, 4 from the U.K., and 1 each from Australia, Germany and Ireland.
